Pakistan, especially Punjab is exclusively blessed as the homeland of Gurus and Pirs and is also proud to claim as the founding place of the Sikh religion. Sikh heritage in Pakistan is one of the major pillars of the heritage of Pakistan.
Most Sikhs live in the province of Punjab, a part of the larger Punjab region where the religion originated in the middle ages, and Peshawar in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, is located in the Punjab province.
After Mughal’s downfall in the Indian sub-continent, the Sikhs took over India and ruled here for about more than five decades, and during their era, there were a lot of new additions to Indian history. Some of these landmark additions are quite visible if we concentrate a little on them. These Sikh landmarks are assets to promote the Sikh pilgrimage to Pakistan. There are endless monuments, Havelis, forts, and Gurdwaras which are now part of the major landmarks of Pakistan.
Itinerary
Sikh Yatra Tour: 7 Nights 8 Days
Day 01 – Lahore
Pick up from Wagha border Lahore or your location and transfer to the hotel and check process. In the afternoon visit to Gurdwara Dehra Sahib – Shrine of Guru Arjan Dev Ji (approximately 20 minutes drive), The Gurudwara was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1606 A.D. The Gurudwara was built in memory of Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru who compiled the Adi Granth, the principal part of Sikh scriptures. The followers of Guru Arjan Singh assert that it is the same spot where Guru Arjan Dev miraculously disappeared in 1606 A.D in the water of river Ravi.
Visit Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort then Dinner in Lahore food street. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lahore.
Day 02 – Lahore – Nankana Sahib
After breakfast departure for Nankana Sahib (approx. 2 Hrs drive) via Sucha Sauda. In Nankana Sahib Tour for Guru Ka Darshan, Yatra at Janam Asthan is the place where Guru Nanak Dev was born. The present building was constructed at the behest of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1819-20 A.D. Another sacred Gurdwara Patti Sahib, Nankana Sahib is close to Gurdwara Bal-Lila. This is the place where Guru Nanak was sent to learn Hindi from Pandit Gopal Das and then to learn Sanskrit from Pandit Brij Lal. Gurdwara Tambu Sahib, Malji Sahib, Kaira Sahib and Nahan Ganj.
In the afternoon drive back to Lahore and have dinner in Lahore. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lahore.
Day 03 – Lahore
After breakfast departure for Kartarpur Samadhi Guru Nanak (approx.03 hrs drive) Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, also called Kartarpur Sahib, is a gurdwara in Kartarpur, located in Shakargarh, Narowal District, in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
Later back to Lahore and will have dinner in Lahore. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lahore.
Day 04 – Lahore – Islamabad
After breakfast departure for Panja Sahib (approx. 06 hrs drive). En route suggested lunch at Islamabad.
Overnight stay at a hotel in Islamabad.
Day 05 – Islamabad – Lahore
After breakfast departure for Lahore (approx. 05 hrs drive).
En route visit Khewara Salt Mines and Katas Raj Temple Continue drive to Lahore.
Overnight stay at a hotel in Lahore.
Day 06 – Lahore – Gujranwala – Lahore
After breakfast departure for Gujranwala, Eminabad (approx. 02 hrs drive) On arrival visit Gurdwara Chakki Sahib & Gurdwara Rori Sahib.
Later drive back to Lahore. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lahore.
Day 07 – Lahore – Kartarpur
After breakfast departure for Kartarpur to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib approx. 03hrs Drive.
After Guru Nanak, the first guru of Sikhism returned from his sojourns, he settled in Kartarpur. As he assembled the Sikh community there, he established the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in 1522. Since then, the Kartarpur gurudwara has housed a shrine that commemorates his time in the region. It was here in 1539, that Sikhism’s first guru breathed his last. Many consider Kartarpur as the second holiest shrine to Sikhs after Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, where Guru Nanak was born.
